Saturday

It was rough as hell in a 28 footer today but we stuck it out and put some nice fish together inside of 150ft. The sea was angry my friend!

Watched the flag at California Dreaming stand straight out all day…saw 2-3 big charter boats come back earlier…sounds like sailflow was right"ouch".

Got our a$$ beat but fished in 150-275 foot of water. Ended with some fish and on way back in steering locked up. Got off the ocean 1130 pm last night!

^ heard the CG on VHF hailing you…

I fished sat and ouch doesn’t even describe the ride out. Broke 3 welds on the top but we caught a few dolphin and a wahoo.

Made it out just passed last can. decided to check boat out since it was first trip out other than to the lake. Good thing because we were takeing on water and bilge pump decided it was on strike so we started with hand pump. Turned around and back on trailer at 830 not happy but safely on hill. Found through hull fitting broke back up under trim tab. Also broken trim tab on other side. Good thing we turned back or our day could have turned out a lot worse the way it sounds the seas were. will try it again this weekend it weather permits.

Wow.

Probably a good idea to check your bilge pumps before you get to whistle Charlie.

Glad y’all caught it. And made it back. That’s scary stuff.

I was on a friends boat once when that happened but we were only in the harbor so no biggie. Since that day with him I made me an auxiliary bilge pump just in case my main goes out. I keep it in a small bucket in the console, its rigged with six feet of tubing, extended power wires with alligator clips so all I have to do is clip it to the battery to use it. I haven’t had to use it yet but when I tested it out it worked like a champ. Nothing wrong with having redundancy systems when running in the ocean.

A nerf football makes a great plug…

checked everything out at lake. There is no comparison between the 2 though. There will be new bilge pump and new bronze through hulls by weeks end. Bilge pump had trash in it come to find out. Will keep it for spare and hose for it. learned valuable lessons this past Saturday. YOU CANT BE TO PREPARED.
