LOL. I’ve not done it but know a couple that used to drag a net many years ago all around Beaufort and Edisto. One got into some major trouble and the other wised up and quit. Not so many on the water to report ya back then. I heard if you do it at night it leaves a bioluminous trail right to you.
Years ago when bream and shellcracker fishing, we would put fish in a 5 gallon bucket add some vinager. Let them soak for 15 minutes. Scales came of really easy. You could even blow them off with a garden hose.
For trout and flounder, use a wire brush. I promise you’ll never use anything else after that.

Yes, a wire brush works real well for flounder and trout. It won’t tear up the skin like the metal scaler sometimes can do, but I’ve used one many, many times.

Next time you catch a limit of Vermillion snapper, or black Seabass try using a garden hose set on the strongest setting. If the fish have sat in the cooler overnight on ice the scales will fly right off

Whhhhhaaaaaattttttt? I will definitely give that a shot. Thanks for that Paul!
A whole vermillion is hard to beat on the grill or fried crispy in the wok

To me if fried right the dark side flounder skin is delicious. Also if frying whole flounder skin on and scored, that’s some good stuff
It ain’t no mystery…this beer’s history!
used one of those pull behind the boat thingys some years ago on crappie. did a 3/4 job. stillhad to go around the edges. i have used spoons since i was 7 years old. that hs been right at 60 years and they still work just as good as then.
I once had a scale flip up and land on my eyeball like a contact lens- thought I had gone blind from too much drinkin.
Never heard of using a wire brush- I’ll have to try that next time. I like whole fried BSB, flounder and bream.
