school me on spinning reels

I usually stick with Penn’s and have a few Shimano’s. I like the 5000 size real for inshore fishing. Slightly larger size than the 3000/4000 but more versatility. It really doesnt matter what you use. I’ve see guys with the $50 Wal Mart rod/reel combo catching the same fish as me on the $250 setup in all conditions. It might help on the margins but any rod/reel will catch you the same fish in the inshore.

Guys at Haddrell’s hooked me up with Penn Fierce rod/reels. I think I have the 4 or 5000 size.

wow, I have found the best $40 inshore rod ever @ Wal-Mart. the 1 piece 6’6" medium-heavy shakespeare uglystik “intercoastal”. it’s a bit more stiff than rods i typically like, but it has actually made me start to like a stiffer rod. it’s got backbone and feel, which is rare. very sturdy, but still sensitive. to my novice eyes/hands, this rod is every bit as nice as $100+ rods, it even looks purty w/ the cork handle. pairing it with a $28 shimano 4000 from haddrells & i’ve got a great inshore combo for under $75!

Sienna on a Ugly Stik Intercoastal how do you like it ??

I was wrong, the shimano 4000 reel I was thinking of @ haddrells is only $19.99!

I’ve been borrowing my roommate’s $20 shakespeare rod w/ this $20 reel on it, & I like the reel so much, i had to buy my own.

Hurricane, it’s not the Sienna, it’s the AX-4000FBC:
