I’d like to be able to let one of my friends take a ride in your boat. He’s looking at center consoles and I thought of how well your “Fogmobile” is constructed. I can’t do it this weekend due to another treatment, but maybe some weekend later on I’ll take him fishing in the toonboat and if you’re in the area you can let him see how well your boat rides and handles.
The perch were hungry this evening. Only had one good Berry spoon with me at the time. Had 14 pretty good ones in about 30 minutes. They were mostly hitting it on the fall. Between 25’ and 30’ deep. Very close to home.
Anytime Spoon. I’ll even let him drive it.

Yep, But remember Batman had the “Batmobile”. I just thought “Fogmobile” has a better ring to it. Batman had Robin. Maybe it could be “Fogman and Seagull(s)”.
I’ll let you know when my friend and I are going to be fishing and see if it fits your schedule. Thanks!
The stripers have been thick up here again. Lost a line screamer Monday after about 2 or 3 minutes. Would have liked to atleast seen it. Definitely a big striper. Scraped some paint off of my Spook Jr. for me.
A friend and I decided to try the perch and watch for schooling stripers after work today. We had caught a few perch when his rod doubled over. His poor little brand new Diawa baitcaster will never be the same. The gears are almost completely gone, but he did manage to land a nice flathead in a little over 30 minutes. It was a little over 20 lbs. We caught perch, the flathead, a couple of bass. Then three or four stripers when they finally started schooling. Only boated one keeper striper @ 24", but it sure was a fun evening. The perch and flathead were between 24’ and 30’ deep. All hit the 1/2 ounce Berry spoons.
The stripers and largemouth were moving a lot and feeding on small shad. We used the trolling motor to follow them and stayed a long cast away. Most were caught in water between 10’ and 25’ deep. All hit topwater lures.
I decided to try fishing for a little while this afternoon. Only caught 2 short stripers from schools. I did manage one largie and 10 perch while waiting for the stripers. Things seemed to be a lot slower in my area. Probably due to bluebird skies and a bunch of boat noise in the area. Had a lot of short strikes on topwater and the swimming fluke.
It was pretty busy around the Elbow yesterday afternoon. After my morning investigation came up empty, I did get fish of 23 and 25 inches in your neighborhood and a few shorts. I didn’t bring the A game yesterday and just kindof farted around for 4-5 hours. Just a few small fish schools is all I noticed. The perch are everywhere in 20-30 feet.

After my doctor’s appointment this morning, I decided to haul the boat to the lake and try to find some schooling fish. I didn’t get on the water until around 10:00am but it was overcast. Put in at Shull and idled out to the big gap. I stayed in that area for a couple of hours and never saw a fish break on top. Probably for the best as my shoulder won’t really let me cast for them, but I was going to try anyway. I would have liked to have at least seen some schooling activity, but it wasn’t meant to be.

Spoonmaster, where are you running in to all of these perch? what is your preferred rig for them? I know this is a Striper site, but just felt like I had to ask.

They’re in the same elbow area(s) as the stripers, feeding on the small shad. The white/silver reflector Berry’s is my first choice for perch followed by most other Berry’s colors. If I want to catch fish, instead of just fish, I’d rather have one Berry’s than a dozen other spoons. They really do produce for me basically all year long, but especially in the colder months.
We started fishing @ 5:15 this afternoon. The small stripers were wide open, but we only had 1 - 24"er. On the other hand, the perch were wide open as well. They were anywhere between 16’ and 30’ deep. We kept 44 perch. We thought we only had about 30. I guess that can happen when they’re biting that fast. I had doubles (I normally bump two rods at a time) several times. They were biting so well that many times my favorite Berry’s spoons wouldn’t make it down to the bottom. All of the perch and a bunch of 18’ stripers hit the 1/2 ounce white/silver Berry. I suggest changing out the hooks to a larger treble because you definitely will hook some big fish on them. My largest have been two flatheads over 20 lbs. Also, the SC record white bass was caught with the Berry’s spoon.
The big stripers didn’t cooperate for us today. I think we needed more wind and a few clouds would have helped too. Oh well, it was still a fun evening.
