Did you happen to learn where the official “unbiased” reports on redfish population for tha past three years are???
DNR fought the 2007 increase from 2 to 3 reds(with a slot change).They(DNR) were not even included in the 2011 attempt to introduce legislation to increase the limit to 5.Fishermen (not protectionists) seem to be telling their reps that there are plenty of reds. My limited but personal fishing experience tells me there is a very healthy population out there. I see lots and lots of very good reports on here of good catches,even a lot of bragging on how many caught(and released).
Could it ever ever get to the point where the population is sufficient to increase the limits??
How about a sliding scale? you know, a changing limit based on current populations (as promised when the strict limits were placed).
Fair is Fair .Where are the reports???Or are we waiting for another “down” cycle? Then report that compared to the good years on a graph so we can defeat legislation to increase limits???
I do not know the true answer to that…I do know the reds have become very easy to catch(not challenging anymore)…And I would like to keep a few more to eat…I guess that makes me a bad guy.
Can't anyone find the reports??? I know some DNR guys read this forum regularly..where are the official unbiased reports???
