Shem Creek Landing

Not one, but 2 boats stuck on the mud flat straight out from Shem Creek. Good times…good times.

It sneaks up on you if you don’t know it’s there…It hasn’t gotten me yet, but I know better in that area. I guess that beats some people running up on crab bank though.

Been there done that^^^^^^^^^^. ONCE.

Those two boats are stuck because of the ridiculous amount of SUPs and kayaks. They were following me in and we all had to come off plane due to there being now where to go. I bailed toward crab bank and was able to push through. They went towards the flat and this was the result.

Today’s victim…

/it’s probably a little cruel to post pictures like this…but…

Yes stay inside the markers on the left side too. We were coming in last Tuesday mid day to eat at Shem creek on a really low tide and ran up on the sandbar right next to one of the green markers. It went from 5-6’ to less than a foot quick! No one was hurt, but could’ve been ugly.

Well shoot me in the foot; my daughter and about 12 of her friends have rented paddle boards on Shem Creek this afternoon from 6 to 8 PM. I guess I am now officially part of the problem. I hope Hoppy and Fritz are not still out there.

Saw a young couple stuck on the harbor side of Crab Bank this afternoon. I was washing my boat on the lee side and heard them blowing an airhorn. I started to pull anchor when I saw Sea Tow head over to them. They managed to get to deeper water without a tow, last I saw Sea Tow was tied along side talking to them. They were lucky a freighter didn’t throw one of those tsunami wakes on 'em.
