Shem Creek Solo Trip

I have been using an Albright knot when joining braid to flourocarbon. It has worked well for me but I am always open to other ideas. Any advantages to some of the other knots mentioned?

I started using the Palomar when I got into fishing for catfish years ago…it is easy to tie in the dark.

^^ Yes I agree. Always use a Palomar to tie braid to terminal tackle. Simple to tie, strong and won’t slip!

i always tie an “improved clinch” but looking @ the “palomar” here: http://www.animatedknots.com/palomar/index.php?Categ=fishing&LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com, it looks way stronger & easier to tie

oops, double tap

fat trout!

hmmm id guess either a big redfish or possibly a bonnethead shark taking the shrimp and slicing it instantly. i always used 15lb mono with a 7 foot medium spinning rod and never had any trouble aside from being sliced on oysters, which will happen with 100lb braid too, and landed redfish up to 31" with it. kayaks definitely addicting keep at it!

Thanks, OhioNavyNuke. I did go buy 15 lbs power pro braid today, along with some other things. I’d love to catch a bonnethead or a 31" redfish. I hope to be able to get out on the kayak at least once a week until it startsgettting too cold for me, if that even happens.

He definitely appeared to be well fed!

bonnets def go inshore and eat live shrimp…and if they bit past the hook and doubled the rod over that would be well enough to slice through mono like butter, but if it really was a bonnethead or you find one in the future i really doubt theyd have any trouble biting through 15lb braid either but its fishing anything goes! hard telling if you never saw it but of course you can always say megaladon as others suggested
