Mudhole is great operation I am fishing one of their fly rods. It lets you know the cost of what actually goes into a rod.
Star Rods, Crowder, and a few other companies still offer lifetime warranties.

Have any of y'all ever made a custom rod? I saw a company called Mudhole that has a rod building class. Looks fun and interesting
Yes. I usually make 1 or 2 rods every winter and get my components from Mudhole. Great people to deal with, great online tutorials on how to do anything. Good company, good products. Follow their tutorials and you will get good results. Here are a few of mine.
Something to do on cold winter nights. I don’t watch TV:smiley:

DFree, I know that Seth (The Rod and Reel Mechanic at Haddrell’s Point West) is in the process of setting up a rod building class for the winter. Check in with him he can give you the details.

Larry, like everything you do, those are awesome. I would love to make myself or sons a rod. Talk about a special meaning every time you catch a fish. So Larry, you build these after buying all of the components and watch a tutorial?
Hey Hurricane, if you hear about such a class being offered, let us know. I would love to attend it if possible.

I got to Alex with ALX Rods (out of Aiken) for all of my custom rod builds. He has a few production lines as well, and they’re awesome, but ALX got its start as a true custom made rod company. Local and quality, can’t beat that.
