I like this style inexpensive jig for spanish and blues. Very easy to cast! Couple of feet of 25lb or so mono leader. I typically cut off one of the three trebles, makes getting them off the hook easier.
This is only my second year fishing for spanish, but I personally use #2-3 wire and a 1oz gotcha. When they are really fired up, I haven’t had an issue with wire.

It floats and has rod holders. Fine by me.

In my experience Clark spoons are garbage not saying they don’t catch they are just made so poorly they aren’t worth it u will constantly be replacing hooks which I thing are made to last one use at most
saw spanish jumping yesterday in the stono inlet. Was having a beach day with the family didn’t have any rods on board to give them a try

00 gold clark spoons WTFB woulda done it fer sure
who doesn’t bring a rod? lots of whiting to catch with the kids off that beach too
just messin with ya… I have bad dreams like that all the time though
Took your advice this weekend sir. Trolled on the way and back from the beach with the family. 2 rods one gold and one silver clark spoon on about 8 ft of mono behind an ounce barrel sinker and swivel. Ended up with one spanish on the way there that I invited back to the house for Ceviche, got 2 smallish bluefish on the way back. All bites on the silver clark spoon. For a guy that has trolled for walleye and muskies most of my life I felt like I was flying but I always heard they like those spoons moving fast.

That’s a fun way to do a family beach day and still come home with something to eat!
What speed did you troll?
Did well Saturday trolling for Spanish. Was using gold and silver Clark spoons and not one took the silver. Only caught on the gold. Even a bunch of Blues and a BSB caught on the gold…
Good day and good eating!!
