STONER(1-9-09)

I don’t think you can get good or consistent fishing 100 hours a year like most people do, no matter how many tips you get, books you read, etc… You can have many great experiences and create memories that will last a lifetime, which is way more important. The information put on the web may help clog up the spots with people that are trying, but chances are that they aren’t catching. Everyone will get lucky every so often. Keep in mind I’ve been fortunate enough to put close to 1000 hours on my rig in the last 2 years, plus fishing with others. That is 9 or so years of fishing for the average CF.com reader. Those that dry them out on a consistent basis have been fortunate enough to have the time to get good or develop a system that works for them. Now if I could just learn how to catch a grouper, I’d be happy!

nice fish!!!

Nice snappa guys. No other trash fish?

Courtland, why do you like to snell hooks? Do you think it keeps it more ridgid for your hookup?

I like the braid for its small diameter and feel, but I hate it when it wraps up with mono. Your thoughts on that?

Way to go Chris… looks like a tasty meal. So Courtland caught all the ARS?

No other trash, just bsb. I’ve never caught anything but snapper on that spot.

I like to snell my bottom rigs for 2 reasons. Knots in heavy flouro are sometimes hard to seat properly, not so with a snell. The second, when going through the eye with circle hooks there is no question that it helps roll the hook into the fishes jaw, helping the principle of a circle hook work better.

I won’t bottom fish w/ mono. Tried it, don’t like it. Never had much of an issue w/ wrapping up.

Yes, I got them all.

Post a picture. It would provide a visual to your explanation.

Character is the way you act when no one is around.

Courtland, thanks again for the invite. It was pleasure fishing with you and Chris. I do appriciate, the local knowledge and the types of riggs you use. If at any time you are looking for a extra person, please give me a call.

It was a trip watching the loons tackle the sea bass…

Sorry you were the only fisherman aboard catching the snappers. But someone has to catch the bait!
