First off Great catch courtland! I Think we ran into each other on the water last year? Sprig Grouper are not in sad shape. The fishing places and styles have changed, and the fishermen that don’t adjust will not catch them. Ask divers, the grouper population is as strong as it has ever been. And don’t get me started on how stupid that ARS shut down is. Bottom line is that they were in thier legal rights to harvest what they did. It seems to me that the people who are crying about people killling to many fish are the people that can’t catch them!!!

I have a 23T Contender w/twin 150’s. I think if I had a boat w/ one motor it might be a 2-stroke. I have tried to run my boat w/ one motor and it is a dog. I have fished on a 21’ bay boat w/ the same motor and it was OK. You would probably get better info on the boats and motors section and talk w/ people that run it as a single. I would like more HP, higher RPM’s and a better holeshot if running a single.
Thanks for the info. Next boat will have twins on it for sure. Going 40+ miles from boat ramp relying on 1 engine is a gutshot…If it fails, that’s a lot of paddling!!!

the yamaha 25" hpdi grey motor is a great motor but imo i would go with a F150 only because it is a fourstroke it does fine pushing a 21’ boat and is a lot more reliable then a 2 stroke motor. this is all my opinion and i do deal with them a lot on my job.
