Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Gots to do da fish dance!!! That and eat the warm still beating heart out of the first fish of that species that one ever catches! (yes, I’ve done it, yes, it’s nasty, yes, I’ve made others do it, yes, I’ve watched some turn all colors of the rainbow after doing it!)
I always wear green, or take a green bandana; I had an old green tee on when I caught my Trident-winner flounder. Works.
And an edit - - the Seminole war dance will get the bite started if they’re slow to start.
Further edit - - the babe in green above this message is obviously good luck to that boat.
Negative superstitions??
NO Banana’s,of course!
NEVER say, “the boat’s running good…”
NEVER say, “everything on this boat works…”
Never get the net out until the fish is at the boat.
I carry a dog toy in the shape of a crocodile for good luck.
Always make people sit bacl in their same spots they were in before the bites happened.
If you take something out of a compartment it has to be put back in it when you are thru with it.
Pliers must be put back in the proper rod holders. I don’t use my console rod holders so I put pliers in them, two pairs on each side of the boat so I always have a pair nearby.
Scissors must be put back in their spot after rigging lines.
