Ya’ll wouldn’t make it striper fishing schools on upstate lakes! Have a lot of boats bump me, that’s to close. It’s a wonder no one is killed.

2 long casts away on a flat. Anytime you move closer than 1 long cast in any situation to someone already in a spot then I say you are breaking common sense etiquette.

Thats why I own a smaller boat, can squeeze into smaller spaces. Just kidding:smiley:. If I come around the corner and see a boat where I was wanting to fish it time for plan “B”. No reason to move in on someone and take a chance on ruining the fishing for them.

But not everyone has the same Courtesy, not even fishing guides. I had one slide in between me and the dock i was fishing last year.[:0]

B is the answer.

Guides are some of the worst. A few weeks ago I saw a group fishing up current of a point, they were floating baits back towards the point. A guide proceeded to come in and anchor on the point they were fishing.

Years ago three of us headed to a spot on the Broad River and found another boat already there. Moved down about three hundred yards to a spot none of us had ever fished and had the best day ever on reds, 100+ fish all 4-7 lbs. The guy in “our” spot was watching intently. Never crowd another fisherman.

Move on. And remember to slow down to no wake when passing fishing persons? Tight lines?

I’ve always subscribed to the theory that i’d rather fish alone and not catch fish than fish on top of someone. So I move on.

I will do this only if its a very small creek. Personally, I’d rather have people pass by as far away as possible at full plane rather than idle by. That’s what I do for others. I think its less disruptive to both the fish and fishermen to blow by fast. In my whaler I make the same size wake going fast as going slow. Maybe less. Just my opinion. If I pass you going fast, I’m not trying to be disrespectful.

And that ain’t very much as seldom as I have been getting on the water. I do remember some shady looking dude in an old Sears jonboat plowing past me one day last year.

I will say that I agree with fritz about guides…ive had more of them squish in with me while im fishing than i have other fisherman.

Best Karma I ever saw was a john boat that dropped his anchor 20 feet behind my boat on my lines where i was catching fish. After i politely yelled at him for doing this, he just ignored me, drifted back a little bit and began fishing. 10 minutes or so later i look up and as he is re rigging one rod on one side of the boat he gets a hit on another rod and in the middle of the scuffle to get the rod that hit…he dropped his other rod in the water never to be seen again. I might have laughed a little…

I like to give others at least a couple to three football fields in big water. Skinny water as well. I rarely fish docks but they seem the most prone for folks to come on in on you. Thus the main reason I leave them to others. My area has few guides but those are respectful . A lot of water out there. Enjoy and remember a bad day on the water sucks. Try to make it better for all.

Man I just move on. Inshore I purposely fish where people aren’t. We have a home on Murrells Inlet and I trailer down to Winyah Bay to avoid that &@&$. I love Gtown. That brown water keeps people away, but there are fish galore. Chuck town has boats and people. Ya gonna have to make it work. Every person that *****es about the growth is seeing their income rise because of it. I have slayed snook within sight of that huge ass bridge in Tampa. If they can make it work with that many people I would think it could be figured out there.
