That’s just around certain areas. Plenty of spawning going on…!!!
This pertains to not at all Spec fishing around here, But I have killed them along the gulf coast this time of year. My best 27", comes from a May trip…

Wow, what a lot of great, detailed information. Thanks PeaPod!

Rad, Maybe if you’ve fished clear water, you might see a little more. I know exactly what I said is true. LARGE ADULT TROUT COME “IN” TO DO THEIR DEED. BECAUSE THEY WERE OUT IN THE SEA. Yea, that’s MOST adult breeders. Argue with a post on that topic. And they move faster than a school of mullet "FROM THE SEA, PAST THE SURF, AND UP THE CREEKS.

First off I’d like to say I’m new to this forum and reading these posts has helped me tremendously. Being from North Carolina my wife and I have been fishing the oak island area for about 10 years and have seen the fishing go down almost every year. This year we decided to go to the Charleston/ Mt Pleasant area. What a beautiful area it is with plenty of parks to fish from. Spent the first day there scouting them out,and desided that Shems creek had the best looking spot for some trout. We tried the usual artificials like popping corks with vudu shrimp, mirror lures, trout eye jigs, etc with very limited success. I noticed there where alot of mud minnows around the docks, so I lowered my minnow trap. It only took about 10 minutes to have all the bait I needed. We first tried them rigged Carolina style, and started picking up more fish including several short flounder. Then I tried using the mud minnows under a float, and WOW was it on! The bite lasted about 2 hours, and we landed over 30 trout, kept one limit of 10 fish. The rest of the week was the same, fishing the incoming tides,we had our best trout fishing ever. It was an extremely nice week and we will definitely be going back!
Yep, DNR and other related studies on locations, yearly movements, and spawning habits are wrong I suppose. I will also disregard my 200+ days a year spent inshore angling for these critters in ALL of SC waterways that hold trout and yield to a REAL expert who fishes down here maybe 5 times per year. I want to hear more on this witnessed spawning behavior up the creeks in clear water. Please enlighten us all.
