The Misadventures of Rick and Fog

Fogman, I know, it’s so easy to be focused on something else and overlook the obvious.

Rick, that’s a perfect example! You know, on a 12’ jon boat with no big motor and the t.m. in the center, transom mount tm’s work great. But offset mount it on a 20’ heavy boat with a big motor and it’s tricky. Zero wind days (which normally equal bad fishing days for me for some reason) are tolerable. Add even a 5-10 mph wind and the workout begins. But, with that said, I knew what I was getting into and in my case it was a trade off I didn’t mind making for more room up front. It’s an all-purpose boat. For boat #2, which is more dedicated to striper fishing, I wasn’t willing to do it again.

We got everything back together after 3+ hours of work. We had to remove the hub and grind out the back of the 1 remaining stud to get the tire off. After putting 4 studs and a bolt/ washer combo on due to wollowing out the hole to remove the spinning stud, the hub is back on topped off with the spare… Ready to go for Saturday.

Thanks Dennis! Btw, my handle is “FOGman.” However, I can be somewhat amphibious at times.
