thoughts on the tourney

Format might be legit in this one?I think that comment is a little bit out of line.If I am not mistaken, everybody was fishing under the exact same regs and format in the 1ST kayak tourney around here. After all, I am pretty sure it was put on for you guys! B/C one person likes fishing for reds over trout is a mere preferance! Don’t forget it is all in fun in the first place!

TIGHT LINES

" I’m gonna live forever if the good die young…"

If someone is willing to cheat/lie to win a low stakes tournament, then no amount of cameras and rules will prevent them from cheating and maybe winning any way.

I have not seen any follow up comments on this point; if using artificals and flys makes fishing SO VERY HARD (boo-hoo) then why was 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place won by people using ONLY artificals and flys??? Change the rule to plain inches, no bonus points for method used.

Here’s a NEW rule to consider; Should fishing guides (past or present) be allow to fish the tournament? Come on guys give some answers . Look at inches column in the table above, toss out the high score and it was a pretty close race. Now I’m not absolutely 100% sure on this next statement, but I thought I heard Steve Cipolla say he was a “guide” who just moved here. (Steve…I apologize in advance if I miss quoted you or misunderstood what you said ). I did look on the Internet and did not find Steve listed as a fishing guide. It’s still an interesting question as to whether they should include/exclude fishing guides or professional fishermen. My position is “exclude them next time” this event is for recreational fishermen/fisherwomen.

One other point I’ll share with Dee is to give more prizes for the tournament results and less prizes for the raffle, plus limit the raffle to say 10 tickets per person so one person with 50 bucks of tickets doesn’t walk away with half the prizes.

I’ll say it again…Dee and Haddrell’s put on the best dam kayak fishing tournament in Charleston, I’ll fish his tournaments anytime.

Last I heard “legit” means following the law, and in this case the rules. As far as I could see they where never altered.

Dee did a very good job explaining the rules as far as I’m concerned. Listing to everyone on Wednesday night and Saturday afternoon I had the impression that for the most part, most everyone was happy with the way this tournament was being handled. If you didn’t like the the rules why didn’t you say something then…?
