Transducer

300w? 800w? ??? Never seen that as an option on a transducer unless thats where they are giving u single/dual option. .

Is your unit removable or flush mount? If removable we can plug it into my ducer and see what it does. Power cables should be the same as well

The 800 watts is the head unit which is fixed into the center console (8 1/2" screen). I am with you though on the single as the offshore trips are few and far between due to waiting on my stimulus check!

You really do need to try your unit on another boat. If it were the transducer it wouldn’t have started working again when restarted. Either let Chip try it out or I will when I get back on the 23d. Also, you can get a used one for probably $20 on Ebay, I saw some new ones on there for less than $60 shipped

Gonna be a pain in the arse getting that thing out though. Silicone city! Looked at it when I was replacing the stereo - that was another major pain. Wifey says I need only one hobby-race cars and boats don’t mix! No wonder I never seem to have any money!

Can you easily get to the connectors on the back of the unit? If so, it sounds like it may be easier to try a known good xducer on your unit and if it is still not acting right you will know it’s your unit.

Maybe check with West Marine and see what their return policy is on them. You could just lay the cable on the deck of the boat and come up with a way to temporarily mount the xducer on a chuck of wood that you can clamp to the transom.

Excellent idea Tim. I think I am going to do like you said and go with the single with the wider cone angle. If it is just the transducer it would make my blood pressure go down a little - Tom has got me scared if it’s the unit.

I can take my transducer off pretty easy if they wont take it back. 2 screws and some 5200.

It’s ok buddy. I know you are not going to be around in a week or so. If you miss it, you know where I live!!!

what do you mean offshore trips. that boat will probably never see salt water. i need a new fish finder for the console of my boat. mine sat in the sun and i can barely read the depth. thinking about selling my goat and chickens to get money to buy a new one.

Ok, so here is what I have going on and I’m almost certain this will help with you too Triton. I looked at my old transducer and found it was cracked down the seam at the top and on the bottom has a couple of chunks the size of my finger that are missing.

Here is a picture of the two side by side:

The one on the left is the new HST-WSBL wide angle 83/200. The one on the right is the DFSBL deep water 50/200 originally off of my LMS337cdf. This is the reason for the price difference and the 50/200 is over twice the size.
