Daniel; got to agree with these guys on here. I would suggest that you get two group 29 deep cycle batteries for you tm. I am using the interstates at this time but when i run out of them i will most likely go to the wally world ones. there are only three smelting plants in the u.s. and they make the majority of the batteries. others come from mexico. i used to be sales mgr for interstate and learned a lot about these things back then. also Tom (you are welcome.) glad they are still holding up. I have 4 or 5 left. also have a couple of group 31’s that i am going to use.

This is not necessarily just for IP, but for any TM with a remote, even if it is just AP or CP, since the head needs constant power to stay in standby mode to be able to receive the signal to power up from the remote.

Try a couple of AGM batteries from Battery Service and Supply in Charlotte. They have slightly used AGM batteries that are used for backup power in cell phone towers. You can get a $200 battery for 30-35 bucks with a core. They have group 24’s and I got a group 31 that I use for powering my striper tubes all day. The 24’s just have a screw hole that you put a bolt in to connect your ring terminals to. The 31’s have a post and wingnut set-up. These batteries will last a long time if you take care of them , and don’t discharge them until they are completely spent and recharge them after use. I also disconnect my batteries when not in use and when I charge them. You could get (2) group 31 AGMs for less than what you would pay for one group 27 lead acid battery. Make sure your charger will charge an AGM battery. They are also heavy.

If you’ve had fun catching fish on the transom bait, you are welcome…
I’ve spent about 85% of my life’s wages on fishing, the rest I just wasted…
Wanted to update on this… I went ahead and bought the group 29 batteries from Walmart and they are holding up great. I think the batteries i had were just two small.
