I can easily troll four rods with u-rigs when I am alone as long as the bite is not hot. There have been plenty of days that all four rods are hit at one time and it just takes luck and patience to work them all in. It can be done. When that happens, I normally cut back to two rods until the bite slows, then go back to four rods. If I am alone, and I am in search mode, I always start with four rods.
Saltwater is another story…I don’t go alone, but I can troll eight rods with ease with my boat. Two off each outrigger, two flat lines at the corners, one center short in the prop wash, and one way, way back down the center.
