Weakfish Regulation

You may can thank the CCA, but I would rather thank all the Numb nuttz, who threw everything between 8-20 inches into the box when it was legal. I mean come on people. Just because you can keep that many, that doesn’t mean you do. WOuld you keep 60 peanuts if you had enough people on the boat?? Geez.

Agreed RedStripe. The weakfish issue went beyond recreational catch shares, but it is amazing what can be accomplished without government interference just by instituting self-control on an individual basis. I see the same coming forth with sheepshead and spadefish over the next decade or less as long as a good majority feel the need to pile in “their” 20 fish per person. It’s legal, so it must be right!

I recently wrote an article in the Tideline magazine on weakfish, sheeps, black drum, etc for this time of year…Tried my best to get this message across in my summary. We all have just as much right as the next person to fish these species, and I am certainly not against keeping some fresh meat for the grill, but assuming that rules and regulations are always going to protect a resource is not always the best course of judgement. A little self-conservation goes a long ways. Just IMO, will probably get blasted for my opinion though

Here is the first bash. What are you saying? The weekend fisherman is kind of the problem? A little of the problem? 23 percent of the problem? Sometime the problem and sometimes not the problem? The problem on Tuesday but, not the problem on Wednesday...

I do love all your terms though. “A good majority”. “Self-conservation”. “Best course of judgement”. “Recreational catch shares”.

And man… who doesn’t love, “Instituting self-control on an individual basis.”

Can I please use, “Instituting self-control on an individual basis” as my new tag line?!!?

But… maybe this is not the, “best course of judgement”?

The size and daily limit is the same in Florida.

I’d rather fish than eat.

Thank you TyOneOn for your contribution, but don’t put words in my mouth. I apologize for the hard to interpret terminology if it left you confused, I obviously went way over your head. I feel pretty sure 95% of the others that read it understood what I said. If it would clear things up for you, why not call me or PM me with your concerns to my above post and you can voice YOUR opinion without hiding behind a screen name. would love to hear your knowledge on the topic and what you think would help.

Put words in your mouth? I copied your your post in total. No additions or subtractions.

I would love to see this article you wrote. Can you post it or provide a link?

So, you have trouble with reading and comprehension…and you’re too lazy to grab a tideline from any of its news stands or google it?

Priceless.

Methinks you have mo’ better things to do than look foolish online.

Fish are too valuable to be caught only once.

If the powers that be keep dropping the amount of Officers working for DNR expect more problems.DNR need to keep it’s officers catching the bad guys.Judges need to throw the book at offenders.Once the word gets out the problem will be solved.$1000 for every fish you have that is not legal. No exceptions and no plea bargain.Second offense loss of permit.Third offense jail time.It does no good to catch a guy with a load of fish and a Judge slaps his hand.

Thanks CCA for supporting such a ridiculous law!
