Weekend Fishing Report 10-12 & 10-13

I’m pretty sure it gets too small to navigate with trees across the river. It’s just a theory, and probably a bad one at that. A lot of people go up and fish below the spillway, they call it the buzzards roost or nest.

I think people that fish up that far have access to a ramp on the river up that way. It’s very rocky when you get up past the second bridge.

No, there is a parking lot behind the dam. You can launch a kayak or small boat but you can’t get past the “cut-off”. I usually lauch fro Buzzard’s Roost and float down to Chappells bride. There is about 3 or 4 sets of rapids through there you can’t get a boat through but the really bad one is the cut-off. The cut off is a big set of rapids about 10 miles up from the HWY 121 boat ramp. As gar-heart meantioned, really rocky from 121 up. I rode all the way from Kemper’s Bridge to the Greenwood dam back by boat in July but the water levels were unseasonalbly high and I had to walk it through the rapids. It was up around 10.5 feet then and is down to about 7.5 now and you will never make it up. If you have a kayak or small jon boat, or if you don’t mind fishing from the bank, you can wear some stripers out behind the dam. Especially when they are running water.
