Raddaddy…it’s the concept that 2013 spawned fish, I consider 1 year olds in June, and they are not 12-15 inches by then and they are not hanging on a flat with 4 year olds by then…maybe by November but not May-June when everybody is huuuuuungry from a long winter and nature buffet really cranks up… consider sub adult redfish don’t move far (tagging studies), why is it so far fetched to think 2012’s year class hasn’t moved all that far from their “nursery”?
Low Tide, aint no place to Hide!
Yet, in one hand you say predation is not a factor, then in the other you say it can’t be measured.
What Ville does that make you mayor of, Ninja?

No, I just figured you were leaving since Raddaddy was taking you to school on the redfish subject…
Redfish Baron Extraordinaire
At least I know what wade fishing is.
Radaddy is basing his schooling on his own interpretation of what I said and think… pretty typical at CF.com.
Predation isn’t a factor…
Predation isn’t measurable…
1 year olds don’t eat 1 year olds…
LOL, contradiction, redundantcy and yall are in the cooler.

No, Raddaddy catches these guys schooled up with the big boys all the time. If only we had more experience like him, we would know this and not get taken to school on the internet.
Yep, you finally said something worth quoting!

It sounds fun. Will you take me and teach me?
Redfish Baron Extraordinaire
Maybe Raddaddy will, except yall would get too busy jerking each other off and miss the tide…
BTW, not that it matters, but in brief, I’ve worked in 2 different hatcheries raising redfish… controlling light cycle and water temp to make them spawn at will…raised algae, rotifers and then artemia for their feed… done stock enhancement, marking the young with OTC (although I wasn’t there for the targeting schools with shorter nets looking for that specific year class for the otoliths). That point I was on s different trammel net study for a few years running and pulled a long net or two… hundred.
So…nobody in this thread is telling me much I don’t know, except that raddaddy catches those little guys in the picture, right along side 30 inch hogs… same bait and hook too, I rekon
Alpha Mike Foxtrot!
I respect the previous work you’ve done, but I implore you to go back and reread this thread since you jumped in. Here’s a quick summary, and please correct me where I’m wrong. As for the “jerking each other off” comment, it just makes you look small and frustrated because your other words are not getting it done.
- You stated that an increase in the 2 year old population would increase predation on fingerlings (1 year olds).
Wrong- No matter when you calculate 2 separate year class ages: 14 month and 2 month, 18 month and 6 month, 22 month and 10 month, etc. THEY DO NOT SHARE (share being key- meaning feed and thrive in the same place day to day) THE SAME HABITAT until the youngest are large enough to avoid predation by the next 3 year classes. If this is wrong, please show your evidence as it totally goes against the findings of DNR biologists. - The picture- The fish shown in the pic is somewhere in the 4-5 inch range. Most likely, it was caught in the Spring up in a smaller creek.
Please re-quote me on when I said I see or catch that size fish on the flats. I stated they don’t show up there until they get at least 8 inches (mid to late summer), but on average, their size is about 10 inches when they mix with older year classes ON THE FLATS. At this time THEY ARE TOO LARGE (on average) to be preyed upon by other inshore reds. Obviously, redfish reside in places other than flats where they are impossible to view, but is it logical to believe that in May (month you like to use)that the large schools of 4-6 inch fish coming back to more saline water will choose to feed and thrive in places where there are established schools of fish that are 1-3 years older? Answer-NO. YOU EVEN STATED IT YOURSELF. In the midst of trying to be a smart-A, you stated you’ve never caught large reds then ones like in the picture in the SAME place. Well, DUH. The one in the picture is the perfect size to be preyed upon but THEY DON’T RESIDE IN THE SAME AREAS. You just hung yourself with your own words. If they don’t reside in th
