What In the Heck is Wrong With Americans??

HOW ON EARTH could this government shutdown be blamed on the Republicans instead of the Democrats and the President. There is absolutely NO REASON for the government to be shut down right now based on what the Republicans PASSED and offered in the House. As far as I can tell from even the Liberal media’s reports, the ENTIRE GOVERNMENT could be UP AND RUNNING with the exception of the Obamacare machine. The ONLY REASON that the government is shut down right now is because the DEMOCRATS are SHUTTING it down to get their way on OBAMACARE funding. They could let all of the government be running except the portions not funded, but no; if the Democrats can’t have ALL of their demands, they want the WHOLE government down. If they can’t have Obamacare, they’re going to keep all the unrelated, FULLY FUNDED parts of government down, too. It could all be running, but the DEMOCRATS won’t let it because they’re taking an ALL-OR-NONE approach, demanding their ENTIRE way–“my way or nothing”. THEY are holding America hostage to force the Republicans to give them their way.

Likewise, there IS NO REASON TO DEFAULT ON THE NATIONAL DEBT IF WE DON’T RAISE THE DEBT LIMIT. Even WITHOUT raising the debt limit, we have PLENTY of money to pay the debt service without going into default. So, just like with the government shutdown, the Democrats are HOLD US HOSTAGE, threatening to DEFAULT on the debt–when they DON’T HAVE TO–JUST TO GET THEIR WAY ON SPENDING.

How can anyone–Liberal, Conservative, Moderate, left, right, or center–fail to see this? How? It’s amazing. Then again, after watching America elect President Obama twice and call for Zimmerman’s head on a plate without a shed of evidence against him, I shouldn’t be surprised.

Being a minority sucks…

Not as bad as having a President who will hold a gun to the head of the entire government workforce and destroy the country’s credit rating–when neither is necessary–just to get his partisan way.

It amazes me how few people see who is really holding the throttle on the government shutdown and the threat of default. The House passed a measure. The Senate Democrats and the President are the ones shutting the government down and threatening a debt default–if they don’t get their way. The Democrats don’t have to the government or default on the debt. All they have to do is keep it all running, minus the unfunded parts, pay the debt service, and work the rest out as time goes on. They know that won’t get them their way, so, instead, they shut everything down to starve us out until the Republicans give in.

It’s 100% political theater, but people are actually falling for the typical Democrat nonsense that it’s somehow someone else’s fault (as usual) and their hands are clean. But we like to think Americans are so smart. The more I think about how this culture is heading, the more I think that Putin made more sense than we gave him credit for making when he said America is unremarkable. It was once remarkable, but the way it’s going, we’re probably going to end up just like Europe.

Isn’t anyone going to say that it’s unfair of overstated for me to say that Obama is holding a gun to people’s heads? Man, I was hoping someone would express a problem with that.

I’d like to know if this “non-negotiable mentality” is him (Obama) trying to makeup up for looking like a moron and getting egg all over his face when Putin had to keep us and the rest of the world from going into WWIII. That might be a stretch, but it just crossed my mind while reading the previous posts.

Well, with or without that, he’d be doing this. This is what they always do, and not just President Obama, but his whole party. You either give them their way, or they do things like shutting down all the government services that would aren’t even involved. They use terrorist tactics. Bully style.

How anyone can’t see that both sides - BOTH SIDES - both sides - both sides - both sides - both sides are completely at fault and could care less about the American people is amazing.

Lee incase you didn’t understand, both sides suck balls. “We” vs. “them” sucks balls and will be the end of us.

Remeber this to start - Obama care is the plan the pubs came up with first and failed to enact. Obama lied to get it passed, now the pubs are butthurt and using it as an excuse to shut everything down. THEY ALL SUCK.

The last thing I would be proud of is to call myself either Dem or Pub at this point and time.

This is a good read on American voters!

Useful Idiots - America’s Greatest Enemy
San Jose Mercury News: "Cindy Vinson and Tom Waschura are big believers in the Affordable Care Act. They vote independent and are proud to say they helped elect and re-elect President Barack Obama.

Yet, like many other Bay Area residents who pay for their own medical insurance, they were floored last week when they opened their bills: Their policies were being replaced with pricier plans that conform to all the requirements of the new health care law.

Vinson, of San Jose, will pay $1,800 more a year for an individual policy, while Waschura, of Portola Valley, will cough up almost $10,000 more for insurance for his family of four."

There are three constituent groups who are empowering and abetting the destruction of the nation and inadvertently themselves.

There are the ignorant and lazy, who are content to live marginal lives on the back of the rest of society, the truly deranged socialist/communist/progressives, and the useful idiots.

This story is really about many millions of middle class, upper middle class, and wealthy people who think of themselves as tolerant centrists and call themselves ‘independents’, but are actually intellectually lazy pawns of rabid liberal elitists such as Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer.

They are mostly fiscally conservative with their personal resources and feel a responsibly to help the less fortunate, but not with their own resources. They are willing to give a little and think everyone else should too, and the best way to do that is to support, and elect people who will do that. That’s the government’s job, not theirs’. Churches and charities can’t be trusted to take care of these issues.

They’ve been conditioned to think this way in public schools and universities and this attitude is reinforced by the liberal media. They have the perception this sort of behavior is what is expected of them and it makes them part of a responsible society.

Easy - I assume you were a Pub in 1989 when the Heritage Foundation proposed what is now Obama Care? Or in 1993 when the HEART act was propose buy the pubs? Or the CCHSA act in 94? Both pub health care mandates with penalities and manditory requirements?

One thing different back then - pubs didn’t argue if it was constitional or not for the fed to mandate insurance, they called it a tax from the start…

Well, contrary to your apparent assumptions, I don’t call myself either one, but the Democrats–not both sides–are the ones shutting down the government.

But right now, I’m more interested in something else you said. You said that Obamacare was a Republican invention. What are you talking about? Please expound.

Jughead, I’ve been voting and following politics since the late 80’s, and I don’t recall the Republican Party, as a party, promoting anything like Obamacare, and I don’t know of anyone who would have supported it if they had. My guess is that either what you cite really wasn’t much like Obamacare or that a relative few Republicans supported it–which may be help explain why it failed to pass, since the Democrats have been begging for government-funded medical for decades. Since this is the first time I’ve seen you bring this up, not to mention the true-blue Liberals, I’m guessing you just saw these claims on a recent talking-points bulletin or a discussion forum somewhere where people were defending the Democrats for holding our nation hostage for Obamacare.

Now, you go right ahead with your “both sides” talk if you want, but ONE side is keeping our government shut down when it does NOT need to, and ONE side is threatening to go default on our debts when it doesn’t need to. NONE of it is at all necessary UNLESS you’re looking at it from the perspective of what needs to be done in order to secure ONE side’s political agenda.

Oh, BTW, Jughead, I could be mistaken, but the idea to hold the ground on Obamacare is largely from the Tea Party–a third side–so talk all you want about Republicans, but the truth is that a lot of what the Republicans are doing right now is because of THIRD-party influence. I guess some people are so blinded by R and D that they can’t see that?

One man literally shut down the government, Mr. Obama. And the Democrats are too week willed to side with Republicans and override his veto. I hope whoever runs against the Democrats repeats this over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over,…

Roger that, 3Oaks. This has gone so far that even the family members of military personnel who got killed in combat in the last week were denied their due payments from the government. How in the world does defunding Obamacare equate to refusing to pay military widows? There’s only one way–President Obama and his administratio are purposefully staging this stuff to make it as painful as possible so they can force the country to do what they want.

This needs to be repeated over and over again like 3Oaks said. The DEMOCRATS shut down the government. The House Republicans voted to fund ALL of the government and appropriated ALL of the money to do it–except for Obamacare. The SENATE DEMOCRATS elected NOT to AUTHORIZE the money to be spent to keep the government RUNNING because Obamacare was not included; instead, they–the Senate Democrats, not the Republicans–shut down the governemnt. The Republicans House has every Constitutional right and responsibility to vote how they see fit on this stuff. A substantial portion of them are NOT the Republicans of former years, either, but are the Republicans who were elected in 2010 and 2012 to do exactly this kind of thing–to stand up to Obama’s Democrats and insert some CHECKS and BALANCES into current politics–so the nonsense about the Republicans bearing blame for having similar ideas to Obamacare in the past doesn’t fly. In fact, the now-famous Rep. Ted Cruz is brand new to the House. He’s doing what he was elected to do.

So, the claim that the Republicans shut the government down is a LIE–PERIOD. It’s also completely FALSE to say "it’s “both sides’ fault”. The DEMOCRATS, and the DEMOCRATS ALONE shut down the government, and THEY are OBVIOUSLY and CONSPICUOUSLY doing whatever they can to make it as inconvenient to the American people as possible for sheer partisan political gain. This is the most shameful display I’ve seen in a long time.

The same goes for the debt limit. To say that the Republicans will cause a debt default if they don’t raise the debt limit is a LIE. It’s a LIE, period. There is absolutely NO reason to default on the debt, period. There is PLENTY of money to pay the debt service and keep us out of default. The DEMOCRATS are simply threatening to use the default as a WEAPON against the Republicans to get their partisan way. The threat is, “you give us our way, or we’ll purposefully put this country in defalt, and we’ll blame it on you.”

They tried it three or 4 times - and yes, they had support. Obama care is essentially Romney care on a larger scale, and Romney care was based on the early pub plans. Many shared the same authors - and some even helped Obama draft his plan…

Its nothing new, been around since the late 80’s - on both sides of the table.

Jug! On that point, who is the President to say, all the people he has exempted or says don’t have to follow the law? Is it a law that applies to only those he want’s it to apply to? It’s a Tax, that is applicable to everyone, not just those he chooses! You and I don’t get our Equal Protection Under The Law? We get selective enforcement! Also, how can you Tax those people that His High and Mighty deems Taxable, for not buying a product from an Internet Web Site that doesn’t work?

jughead;
regarding your “law of the land” statement:
You are right - it is the law of the land. Passed without reading it; by giving away freebies to Louisiana and Nebraska and with only one party voting for it.
Most importatnly, it (like every other law of the land when it comes to taxing, spending and commerce) is the law of the land becasue Congress made it such. Congress can also unmake it. Congress has the right under the Constitution to NOT fund whatevef it chooses. Further, the House has done just that and the Senate has chosen not to even vote on these measures. This choice made by one man (Harry reid - likely to save teh president from having to veto such a law)
Oh, and by the way Jughead. The founders set up our governemt this way on purpose and such things have happened before and will likely happen again. ie, your “law of th eland” commnet has little relevance.

Read the Constitution. In case you want a summary, instead of reading the whole thing (like the Dems did with Obamacare) read Article 1 - section 1 - section 7 - Section 8 (particularly paragraph 1)
