The i-Pilot has been around the longest (for years), the Xi5 has only been around maybe a year and a half or so. My i-Pilot was on my 2007 boat when I bought it in 2013 and I had to replace the steering motor last year. The Crappie Hole in Chapin took care of me with a used motor and I haven’t had any more trouble, yet. He also saved me a bunch of money with the used motor. All that being said, I still think that the i-Pilot is more dependable just for the fact that there are so many out there with so many hours and you don’t hear a lot about them breaking down. The Xi5 is still “new” and until there are more of them on the water and more hours on them, you won’t know how reliable they will be. But, as with anything, you might get a lemon with either. If I were buying one today, I would get the i-Pilot simply because I’ve got experience with it.
