What wood? Charleston bench slats

Oh the things I could make on my lathe out of the big piece of cherry.

"Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It's Hand", but really, who cares?

I mentioned to the wife this weekend, if I ever retire, I might swap my hobbies from greasy stuff and metal, to wood. I think my biggest issue would be the dust, I’ve still got a case of the sneezes. My Paw-in-law has a ton of wood working tools and a large plainer. I took him some boards from an Oak Pallet and it is amazing how some of them turned out. That Pic of the “burly maple” EF posted is just an example of the many types of woods I never realized were out there. I just recently saw a few chunks of cypress pulled out of the Savannah river cut down. Beautiful.

The only thing I dont’ like about wood is the fact that metal is much more forgiving from a “missed” cut. I can gap weld pretty well… not so much with wood. I would have to refine my measure 10 times and cut once thing.

I don’t have any dried cherry rounds laying around, but I might know a guy

You making bowls or baseball bats?

Oh, and how are your charcuterie skills:wink:
