“bioguy” has it spot on!
Spoons Spoons Spoons! The only other thing else I would have tried is a Diamond Jig. When I see the striper like that, I think of them like Yellowfin Tuna.
The spoons and diamond jigs produce reaction bites, which is totally different than a fish biting a lure because they are hungry or not.
The Rat-l-trap is a reaction bait type of lure, but you just can’t get it deep enough to snatch it “up” through the striper school. Up through the school is the key to get them fire off and bite.
Anybody who has ever power reeled a dead herring up through the stripers, will attest to this technique.
By the way those are some pretty screen shots…sorry you guys could get on them.

We fish out of the Chapin area, so getting herring around there is more spotty. How do you get in touch with David Clyburn? I’ve heard he is a super supplier and great person. We’ll be out again soon and will try the spoons, it makes sense. I did try some and sent down some red eye shad lures, but we were drifting so maybe that was an issue? We could see our lures right down the transducer… sawtooth pattern from the jigging up and down! Definitely have to sit still on em.
