Where Would Y'all Go?

Oh, and stay away from wapoo cut and riverland terrace boat ramp. You don’t want to mess with those currents until you are very comfortable with your boat.

Remleys is OK, but you have to watch for ship wake there as there is no breakwater and container ships as well as tugs regularly pass through.

IOP is very nice, but it’ll cost ya.

I am glad you got a boat. I will call you on my next trip. Getting ready to upgrade my electronics in my boat. I will start picking up more trips in sept and oct

This should not be used for navigation, but it can give you an idea of what I’ve learned about the waters I travel.

Pink denotes areas of shallow to extremely shallow water. Give close attention to the area near crab bank (Mt. Pleasant side of harbor) and close to The Battery.

Green notes areas where the harbor waters can get a rough, especially when the winds and tides are running in opposite directions.

Use caution around the old naval base and up near the Sub training station.

Wow, that’s an awesome map, Claim! Thanks again, everyone. I just got down to the Lowcountry. I’ll keep y’all posted…:sunglasses:

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

in unfamiliar saltwater, it’s wise to cruise around during LOW TIDE so you can see the big sandbars & mudflats that are hidden during mid-high tides

could always put into fresh water if you don’t like hidden sandbars, bushy park & cypress gardens up in goose creek are basically fool-proof, no current or sandbars

the ashley river is also very easy to navigate if you wanted to put in by dolphin cove (leeds ave)

remleys (mt pleasant) to the ICW (sullivans island) is also very easy to navigate, shem creek to ICW (sullivans island) is also very easy, just be careful entering & exiting shem creek (stay close to the dock)

if you put in @ folly, be careful, there’s a lot of sandbars from the folly ramp to the stono inlet

everything mentioned has great fishing

A gps with a chart built in is very helpful. Some need a card with a chart on it.

I see you have a poling platform. If you ever want to practice poling, Bushy Park is great for that. When you make a mistake, you’ll bump into mud and grass. Oyster mounds are rough on hulls.

Congrats on the new rig!

You can take that to the Charleston 60…cuda bite is on

Try Limehouse Landing during the week if possible, most of the weekend warriors are out on weekends and it can be difficult to get at any ramp esp. if you are new to boating.Since it’s still day light longer maybe you can go one afternoon after work and enjoy your new ride.

Double D.

Good luck on your maiden voyage! It was a pleasure meeting you, and I am looking forward to seeing you out on the water. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of that boat as I did. Let me know if you need anything!

Maiden voyage went well! I didn’t sink the boat! Put in at Folly and just cruised around for a while. I did stop at a couple of docks to throw a few casts and practice anchoring and running the trolling motor. Launched/re-trailered the boat solo. I know many of y’all do this without thinking about it, but it was my first time ever doing it all myself, so my arm’s a little sore from patting myself on the back. Not really, but it does make me appreciate all that’s involved in a fishing trip. Thank you again for all your input and assistance.

Hoof,

I need to get some pointers from you on how to make a push pole like yours. No way I’m paying several hundred bucks for a Stiffy or one of those other fancy poles. I got more common sense than cash…

If I knew you were going to folly I would have gone that way too. I put in at wappo cut and hung around there most of the day.

Born and raised in Charleston, moved to Brunswick GA almost 5 years ago, but I have to say, Kudos to all my Chucktown guys for all the support you have always showed, on and off the water. Hope to make a trip up that way soon to fish after a long awaited abscence.
