Try sitting down running in 3 to 4 footers. Then watch the guys in the CC that are on their feet not getting the life beat out of them because they are standing up blow past ya.

I also have a World Cat 266SC. It’s awesome. You can stand or sit while underway. It’s like it ignores the first 2-3 feet off a chop.
The moral of this story is that everyone likes there boat more than almost everyone else’s boat.
Unless you own a freeman… then everyone likes your boat better.
Interesting opinions…
That Albemarle 29 is gorgeous did you go 300 or 350 and what are you expecting to burn GPH?
Sabalo 21 150 Yamaha
Key West Stealth 150 V-max (SOLD)
Twin Yamaha 350’s. The stock boat without a tower will run 57 wot, I’m guessing we’ll be closer to 50 wot with the tower and seakeeper.
Ballpark guess on mpg will be around 1.2-1.4 mpg. It seems most boats I’ve been on with 350’s are in that range, so I would’t expect this to be different.

quote:Ride and comfort for a price. I noticed you mention "we"..."as we have this being delivered in late July." That is some serious money. Glad you got it going on. I'm interested in the addition of the Seakeeper. Was that suggested by Albermarle or did you experience a whip roll with the outboard design? I would imagine the roll would be worse without the weight down low with diesels. Considering fuel is dynamic weight, I would see the need to add a 30K counterbalance. I'm amazed by the "fix" for COB/COG modifications.
Originally posted by NCSUtreyAdvantages and disadvantages to both…go with what fits you. If you are trailering the boat 100% of the time, a CC is not a bad option. Limited locakable storage though makes things difficult if you keep the boat in the water for any period of time. The 32’ Intrepid I run most of the time is being sold in a few months, as we have this being delivered in late July. Big cockpit, tons of lockable storage, heated/cooled cabin and cockpit, small tower, and lots of other functionality in a relatively small package drove the change. We’ve even added a Seakeeper 3 gyro in the bilge. We’re giving up easy trailerability, a bit of top-end speed, a bit of fuel economy, and ease of maintenance in exchange for the ride and comfort.

The seakeeper is a pretty amazing piece of machinery. Outboards or inboard diesels, it dramatically reduces roll. The 29 has a perfect spot for it in the bilge.
As for the costs associated with the boat and accessories, I’m a minor player and am blessed to be on the ride that I am with a good friend.
There’s a reason they don’t put luggage racks on a hearse.

Thanks for the gut busting laugh…I’m still laughing.
BOAT/ Break Out Another Thousand!!!
I wasn’t jerking you. Outboard motors on brackets change the center of gravity height and it is a major accomplishment to find a somewhat fast boat in a head sea that doesn’t whip roll. I wish I had the money back I’ve spent trying to make my 25 Bertram ride like it did with the weight on the inside and low.
Next time I dump more money in the boat, I’ll remember those good words of wisdom.
I don’t think it’s so much that center consoles are so popular for offshore fishing - I think that there’s just so few walk-around cabin boats available. I have a 2008 Seahunt 240 Triton CC and love it but when I bought it in 2011 there were no 245 Victory’s around (same boat in walk-around cabin configuration. To me the front part of the center console is wasted space - if I had it under cabin, I could store tackle, etc. (under lock & key) at the dock over night. I fished both types offshore and still prefer the cabin to the CC. That’s just my preference and that put’s me in the minority, especially with the manufacturers who respond to what sells. YMMV

The forward deck is not wasted when cruising with a boat full of ladies who use it for a sun deck. Not to mention the fish and ice storage when you have large bench boxes and a built in box in the fwd deck.
