Winter Red Fish Fly Swap (pics)

Come’on Jake - you gotta give 'em better pictures than that!

Here are some better pictures of what I tied up…

The Toad…

and The Slider…

I am still in. I am tying a fly very similar to your redfish toad. I can’t find the right hooks for the second fly I wanted to tie, so I will probably go with a bitters pattern. My flies will be in the mail on Monday.

sorry bro the pics were from my phone and I was in a hurry to meet some fools at wild wings mmmmmm.

Shaddow- is the fly your tying the same as my toad but with copper flash used as the body instead of black yarn?? If so my buddy swears by that fly… he loves it. wanted to try the black version for when they are picky and not feeling the flash. look forward to seeing em .

nice lookin bugs! Im still im, i cant, however, tie em till this weekend. Ive been behind the bar all week and fixin da wifes car when it aint flippin rainin. i think i tied a toad before, but it works so well, i might do anutha. its tied a tad differently.

No, I do mix some flash in the body, but it is primarily fibers that make up the body. The tail is marabou and copper flash. It also has some small rubber legs coming off the body. I finish it off with a small stripe of rabbit zonker. With all that, the fly still has a lot of movement even when at rest.

strip…strip…FISH ON!

Chattahoochee, can you give me the ‘specs’ on your Brown Bunny fly? Looks pretty fishy. And how do you fish it? Ty

Not Much to it.

Not sure if it says it on this site but when working with rabbit keep a cup of water next to the bench to wet your fingers slightly damp… NOT wet rabbit is easier to work with. I have also experimented with some lead wrapped under the body and weighted eyes for weight. Rabbit is my favorit material has amazing action in the water even sitting still great for slow fishing. Good luck.

Yep, looks easy enough. That web page makes it clear as glass. I guess I am off to the bunny store. I owe you one. Ty

hey guys i got some bad news. I was tying up some flies yesterday and the screw that keeps the jaws tight on the hook on my renzetti traveller just sheared in half. Half of the screw is still in the other side so i have to find a way to get it out, but i only have 2 flies tied so i apologize but i wont be able to get mine in.

FF, that sucks. You are not the first person I have heard have problems with that very issue (makes me glad I went with a HMH:smiley:). My flies are on my desk right now waiting to go out in the mail. So, by my count I need to mail in a total of 6 (3 each pattern)?
