Looked at the weather at about 10AM after a trip to the Cracker Barrel for a glorious breakfast with Jerms and Duckcommander and families. After realizing the weather was beautiful outside, we talked it over and decided to go put the boat in for and run close to a few BSB numbers just to get some fishing in. Leaving the jetties at about one, we realize that its a slick calm ocean and we should have been out fishing early that morning. Anyways, we run to the gardens area and proceed to put the lines out. Jerms throws the jig out and on the first cast pulls up a little snake king. That had us feeling pretty good even though it was a king; its just days away now from the 30 knock downs per trip trolling season kicks off.
The bottom fishing could have been better, we caught the usuals and a couple of keywest grunts and some short grouper. All in all a very fun half day of fishing dispite not having many quality fish. It was nice to get Duckcommander and his buddy on the boat even if only for a little while. The sharks started to show up in numbers and we high tailed it for home. Ride in was a wet one, but still a fantastic day for me. I forget sometimes how fun those last minute trips can be. Thanks guys.
2PM at the gardens…
Those reef donkeys will make you look like that sometimes…
Andy was proud of his first AJ
Grouper were biting, we just couldn’t find the bigguns.
This is for EF…arent’ you the master of this elusive species?
from the fish ive caught out of charleston AJs especially the larger ones tend to have worms in them. you can cut them out but I dont like eating things that have parasites in them myself.
23Sailfish, What direction did you head to 85’? The 75’ spot I hit Saturday was LOADED with fish and marked well a few months back but I couldn’t find any type of marking this time. Spot still held a bunch of fish but nothing marking.
