05/06 Harbor/Jetties

Loaded the boat and youngest son and headed to Hairball’s to gather up him and HB Jr. We had planned to hit the harbor. Put in a Wappoo and cruised out in, what was supposed to be 5-10 mph wind, and hit the harbor to find steady 15-20 and a nice chop. Set up in spot #1 and the bite was pretty steady. With everyone boating between 8-10 fish. Several under-slot black drum and 4-5 under-slot reds as well as 6-8 keeper reds were caught and released. We kept 1 black drum at 23" and one trout at 18" for the cooler.

Went to spot #2 and my youngest son boated a 33" redfish and a 27" redfish.

Lots of bait everywhere. A great time was had by all. Snapped a pic of the 33" red and will upload shortly. Too busy to take a lot of pics though.

haha …

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Lol @ TooBusy. Pardon my forgetfulness. Hairball also had several freight trains on a heavy rod and boated a large stingray then HB Jr. lost a mystery fish to a breakoff on the heavy gear. Hairball grabbed he rod on the next big hit and boated a nice “full growed” bonnethead at about 49" +/-.

what kind of bait?

Clear Skies

Mixture of live pogeys (menhaden), frozen skrimps and frozen mullet/mudders. Everything was fished on a Carolina rig with a 4-10" leader. Leader lenth didn’t seem to matter.
