06/08 report

Went out this morning, the menhaden were easy to get. Fished a creek mouth caught a couple trout and 2 bonnet heads and a break off by something fast when it cruised around the other side of the oyster beds. Moved to an abandoned dock where I finished the limit on trout for the day. Most everything was on the bottom with a carolina rig. They were mostly leaving the poping corck alone. All the trout where 16+ with one nice 20 incher that had me smiling.

For where i was fishing. Well i still dont know the waterways, but … if you make a right immediately after the piggly wiggly just before folley and go to the end of the road. I dropped at the public ramp there. Dont know whtat river that is, guessing the start of the stono but not sure

Oh ya and make sure you continue keeping things strapped down. Had my first flip on the yak when i was leaning to far around the side. I had gotten the anchor trolly caught on some clips and was being to lazy to stand so was reaching around the seat to far over when “wow the water feels great”. Lost the towel that was covering my legs, 1 sandal, and my bait, everything else stayed right in place. I feel pretty lucky about it all in all

When are you going out next I am down here from the upstate, had my yak a year npw and I have’nt got any salt water fish slim on it yet. We are camping at JICP.

Going out on thursday, its my day off. Thinking of going to the same spot again, as I am pretty sure there were some reds around.

Congrats on earning your turtle sticker…wear it proudly  Everyone gets one sooner or later.

There is nothing - absolutely nothing- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Kenneth Grahame

Watch out for your vehicle at that launch ramp at the end of Sol Legare rd. where you launched at, it’s well known for getting your windows smashed out and truck emptied out by the thugs that hang around that road. Best bet I’ve heard is to totally empty truck and leave windows down. That’s the Stono river you were in, hang a left and can go down to folly river on your left side, right takes you up the river towards town more. Just before you get to folly river there is a large mud bank on the left that sometimes holds some good size fish. Just watch out at that ramp, has been a lot of problems there with theft, drugs and such, I definitly wouldn’t ever use that ramp after dark unless packin.
