Sis & bro-in-law in town. Did some family fun yesterday and down to some fishing this morning. Out before the break of dawn. Tried topwater and a few arties at a trout spot to no avail. Had one real nice blowup in very shallow water. Me thinks a flounder.
Headed to a creek for the incoming. Water about 87 degrees. Caught several rats and a couple slotties on mud minnows. Rat city for awhile, but fun.
Got a few menhaden and finger mullet and tried a couple more docks. second stop - BINGO! Floating dock and if you drifted a minnow or MH under it it was money! Threw finger mullet out on carolina rig. Caught 2 nice reds and one got into the docks for a breakoff.
Key was early. By 10ish the bite was dead. Plucked around at a few other spots to no avail.
Bottom line - Mud minnows or a MH on jighead were money for slotties. 4-6" finger mullet on carolina rig were money for bigger reds. Ran out of each when the bite was still hot. We tried artificial and topwater but weren’t successful.

Fun day! A LOT OF FIGHT IN THE FISH right now. I was suprised. The big one fought like a 30+ and the slotties fought hard! Need 'viving, though.
Hope the weather holds off just one more day for another go tomorrow!

Nice job! My wife, father, and I saw you guys tearing them up this morning. I would have stopped by and introduced myself if I had known it was you. My dad caught a nice 20" trout today using your jighead method you told me about. My wife had 3 bruisers in that creek break her off as well. She ended up catching a few nice ones. It was a great day on the water.

Wish we’d have met. I believe I was “busy” for awhile but Bob thinks he remembers you guys. For a stretch there if you got a cast perfect under that dock and let it drift beneath it was literally fish in a barrel! Glad ya’ll had a great day and if you see the old Triumph out there give me a shout!
