Big tiger brought to scales after Edisto shark tournament closes weigh-in. You can read article and see photo by going to Post and. Courier and doing search on Edisto Shark Tournament. Maybe someone knows how to do a link?

Actually there is a posting with link on Edisto forum.

Why tow the fish back when they knew they werent going to make the weigh in?

Gluttons for punishment?

Yes, quite a shame to kill it for no reason.

I believe they said they planned to eat it but, how good is a shark that big and is a tiger good eating? Kind of hate to see those biguns killed for no real reason.

unsure how the taste of Tiger shark meat is, but i would imagine that hauling the shark back for any amount of time in bath temp water wouldnt improve its flavor much!

at any rate, dude caught a trophy fish and i am sure he wanted to show off his trophy.

i have no real (right or wrong) opinion on the matter but to me its kinda similar to an African safari hunting Lion…which along with catching a 1,000 lb fish, is on my bucket list.

I am with y’all. I love to catch big sharks, but I always release them. I don’t see the point in killing something that has survived that long to get to that size. Shark is OKAY tasting, but not good enough. I am very glad for whoever caught it, just pitching in my 2 cents, whatever what is worth.

I can’t imagine wanting the risk of trying to rope it.

Most sharks are good eats in the 6 foot range, but that’s when they start getting bitey.

They killed it so some pictures could be taken and an article written telling us all about what great “sportsmen” they are. (**() shame to kill something like that for bragging rights.
