Good day of fishing on the Wando with my brother. Got into the reds as well as the trout. I don’t target trout and haven’t caught many this year but caught around a dozen while fishing for reds today. The biggest 16 1/2. Approx 20 reds but most were lower slot are rats. Did catch a couple nice ones with the biggest 24". Had a couple of first today. Caught a tagged 23" 6lb striper which is my first in the Wando and first tagged fish I have ever caught. Called it in and really interested in the history of this fish. All caught on arties and the preferred lure of the day was a saphire shine. Water clear and 48degrees. Chilly and windy but a fun day.

If that’s all I have to worry about…there’s nothing to worry about.
That’s Great, normal spot or did you just spot a school of reds?
Upper or lower Wando?
Thanks for the report
Normal spots. Started out drifting with the incoming tide where I had seen some schools before but could not locate any. Between 41 and Paradise landing.

DNR released approx 80 at paradise a couple of months ago. The fish were left over from the restocking program in the Ashley. The stripers are a lot of fun on light tackle/fly and are stacked up real good in certain spots. Call it in… and get a shirt or a hat ;). Good job on the reds and trout too!

Interesting. Thanks for the info. When I first saw it I thought it was a gator trout. Last thing I expected to see.
