Can’t get a hold of him this morning. When he calls me back I will update with the final weight.

I want to weigh the fish with my scale.

So is it a warsaw b/c from the explanations and the pictures it looks as if it’s a warsaw…

Warsaws are critically endangered. Government says there are only a couple dozen left out there. No way any of us could actually go catch one of those…

Pflueger, the fish has already been verified by a biologist, so there is no argument at this point…

Just got off the phone with Scot M. Said that the official weight was 32lbs-9oz. Said that the crazy thing is that when they got it home, it actually had a 2lb-11oz B-liner in it’s gut when they cut it open! Evidently, this doesn’t matter and they will still get the record. Talk about luck!!!

I would bake the B liner.

congrats on the new record.

Jeff Davis is my President

I have to admit… I have been a bit jealous of these guys. I mean I may have even seen them running out while we were c bass fishing. What kind of boat do they have? I saw a name, but I cannot remember it. I was too busy making sure my c bass spot wasn’t getting cornholed. Can’t believe it was probably the guys who brought in this stud. They were headed to where our big snowy came from now that I think of it. I am thinking someone that knew what area I was in must have sent them that direction for the record.
:imp:
I shouldn’t have told anybody anything about our fish I guess. But on the bright side of things, it shows our snowy fishery isn’t quite what the government says, and our new 500-ish fish cap on snowies per year for recreationals from NC to FL is quite ridiculous. The stock is supposed to reassessed in a few years, so at least we’ve got two big fish they wouldn’t have otherwise have to count and age.

The worst thing, tho… is that it would have been cool to be able to go beat this new record, but the government won’t let me with the deepwater closure. It will be harder I mean. It started out as being for 600ft+. It turned into 240ft+ that slipped right on through while we were fighting the 98-240ft closure. Just cannot win them all I guess.

I got in touch with the new record holder. He sent me some more pics.

They had a much better day than I realized. I mean I am just humbled honestly.

Congrats again!

Very hard to tell them apart.Heck, the thing could even be yellowedge if you didn’t look it over with a fine tooth comb!

Phin you are right it is VERY hard to tell these apart. Looking very closely at both pictures I can see how some would fall for this but I would expect others to be able to see the difference or similarites in some cases.

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
