1-6-19 Just for the Halibut

A little choppy going out but not bad at all. The water flattened out in the afternoon and we cruised in at 30+.

lost our only shot at a Wahoo with a bad hookset (took one run than was gone) but did really well bottom fishing in 140 to 175 feet. Caught a couple little tunny on the troll that put up a descent fight. Heard someone say they caught a Blue Marlin on the radio? Pictures Captain?

As with any hardcore day on the water the boat now needs some work, found my Seastar steering was leaking hydraulic fluid after I noticed the steering getting a bit sloppy, never got bad enough to bleed it or add more fluid…relieved I didn’t have to try and steer the boat back in using the twin 150’s, that would have been a **** show. Got some line wrapped in the prop but I don’t think it did any damage, still have to pull the prop.

All and all I LOVE getting out into the blue water. AMAZING day…sucks having to work today but I wanted to post this before I got back to the grind.
Tight lines!

What’s y’all catch bottom fishing?
