1 more baby shark and We're gunna SCREAM!

Trying to find reds in the gray bay, dewees, prices, hamlin sound area.
Are they there and I just cant find em?

Today I AGAIN thought I had it…

After winging it for some time I went to Chs Angler.
The guy was great, sold me bait, went over tides, areas, what to look for and out for, etc…
Hop on the skis and creaped in just coming off of high tide, parked in the middle of the grass right where 2 creeks came together flowing into deeper waters, bait fish jumping, lotsa swirls, I throw the popper with live MM right on the edge of the weeds…
Bam! baby shark… ugh!
All day long, time and time again and again… BABY SHARK!

Used live mm with corker, gulps, dead shrimp, cut bait, top, bottom middle, baby shark cleaned me out again! ARGH!

I have jet skis rigged for fishin’ so I can really get in the cracks and crevices…

We’re gunna go mad!

This is my recurring nightmare, HELP!:face_with_head_bandage:
Shark repellent maybe?

Hmmm,
How bout someone going out that wants company, gas, lunch for lessons?

I gotta get this soon.

Jetskis are loud. Redfish (and other redfishermen) hate them.
Sell them and get a john boat with a trolling motor.

I have to disagree with you, and so do actual DB ratings on skis vs boats. A jet ski makes less noise that 99% of the boats that are out there, especially idling.

Now a jet ski renter that’s flying by at 60, well duh I agree… but ANY boat flying by at full throttle will make for unhappy fishing…

Jon boats are not the exclusive boats out there fishing…
actually its a minority… look around.

Wait, why am I answering this, anyway?

One vote for, “they don’t like what I’m fishing from”.

Thanks!

You my friend have a lot to learn.

Wow,

ok, Now it’s " I’m a Yankee on a ski" (sigh).

Can we make this something other than a bash session?

Its not a very pleasant way to greet a new member.

Actually I have often wondered why these jet ski companys don’t try to make a fishing machine, much like 4 wheelers have racing 4 wheelers and those for hunting.John boats are great but fishing during the day that aluminum sho do get hot

suemm

They do!

Jet Ski fishing is pretty popular around the world now.
People are even marlin fishing on these!

youtube has some great videos…

HOLY CRAP!!![:0] (I was privately thinking a kayak crate strapped on back). Please tell me you didn’t place second in the billfish tournament on that. I do have to say thats a kick ass rig (sorry guys. It is cool.)

No I was not on a ski for the tourney, lol.
I’m adventurous, not crazy!

Book a trip with Captain Graham Hegameyer, Southern Tail Charters.(843-991-8372) He taught me more about “Skinny Water” Reds in one trip, than I would have learned in a whole season just poking and hoping!!
EDITED: And by the way, I’m customizing a 17’ Jon for a “Skinny Water” rig, just to fish for Reds.
…Politicians aren’t the “Oldest Profession”, but the results are still the same!!!

Awesome Jet Ski!! X2 on the guide idea. Welcome.

for the record, that is a professionally fish rigged ski for reference…
I’ll post a pic of my not so elaborate setup soon…
hopefully with a pic of a nice red in the foreground!

HE JUST BETTER PRAY HE DONT HIT SOMETHING AND GO FOWARD…IT AINT GONNA BE PRETTY

It is not that you are a Yankee on a jet ski, it is that you are ON a jet ski. Fair or not, a lot of fishermen are not fans of them as most jet skiers are not fishermen but PITA annoyances on most occasions. Probably makes an interesting platform to fish from but a lot of us have had negative experiences with the folks that ride them.

Get a little further away from the ocean. I never catch sharks in the Stono, although lots of folks do. Fish on top of oyster beds in SHALLOW water, incoming tide, near deep water. Should get you more spottails and other tasty fish.

Also, you raised a ruckus because you are evidently living here in the DEEP SOUTH, asking for fishing help, and using an alias that essentailly says “I’m a Yankee”. These are a forgivable combination of offenses, but add a jet ski(!!!) and your right on the border of getting run out of town on a rail. Admittedly I’ve had a lot of fun on jet skis since my first ride in 1978! But I am also a fisherman (for over 45 years) and know how to act on the water. Sounds like you are one of the good guys who can set an example of how to act on the water on those machines. Welcome to the forum.

LoL,
I had the NY record for large mouth bass when I was younger, Took 2nd place in the Hawaiian Intl Billfish Tourney a couple years ago.
basically, I can fish…

The HIBT had people from all over the world.
Not one single person ever brought up the fact of where you were from originally. Everyone shared info and good times.
Fellow fisherman were just that, fellow fisherman.

Here if you ask someone where the fish are running they treat it like you just smacked their wife.

It’s pretty sad if you ask me//

I mean saying I’m from NY tags me as an undesirable Yankee?
I’m not a person I’m a geographical region?

If I’m rigged for fishing it really matters what craft I’m on?

I mean really?

I’m just sayin ././.

Are the areas near iop/sullivans in far enough from the ocean?

Hamlin/ Gray / Copahee ok?

When in baby sharks - move. They’ll eat as long as you feed them.

Zillion creeks and such between here, there and everywhere. Take the knowledge gained at the Angler and hit some different areas. Don’t spend a ton of time at each area. If it ain’t happening, it ain’t happening.

The guide advice is sound, also. I’d just take his boat, not yours!

Cool get up!

Um, no. Using NY for your alias tags you as a Yankee and moves you from “a person” into the geographical region affiliate category. Undesirable or not is up to you. So far you’re just mildly annoying.
