It was a tough, frustrating yet exciting day on the Wando. Started with top water but could not find any takers. Switched to Zman grub and starting getting bites but could not hookup with any keepers. While cruising I saw my first ever tailing red that was within casting distance but he bolted when he came up on my grub. I came upon another tailing red that was out of reach so I dropped in to wade to him only to realize it was too muddy. In the excitement I forgot to take my iPhone and wallet off…lol. What is it about a tailing red that makes you lose your mind? My partners got a kick out of it! Both reds were 20+ inches
We caught some finger mullet and headed to the grillage but only had a few hits. It’s my dad’s first time fishing inshore and I think he really enjoyed himself. We bought a crab pod and hope to do better with the reds. Hopefully tomorrow will be better and my iPhone will dry out!
They are very expensive for sure. What bothered me most was not being able to make a call nor tell time. I stopped by the AT&T store on 17 and bought a $15 flip phone and switched my SIMM card. I should have had the back up phone on the boat to begin with. I’ll eventually get this saltwater fishing figured out…lol
I had a GZone for the last 2 years and it acctually fell in the water and was submerged for 30 minutes before I found it and still worked fine. The Kyocera is a huge improvement in software and I have had it soaking wet 3 or 4 times in the last month with no issues. If you are going to be around water especially salt I would take a look at these for your next upgrade. I know its not an Iphone but they dont require a case, which could fail, and are just a little thicker.
I fished the upper wando yesterday with minimal success. Same deal on the zman, but I was using a houdini paddler. Live mm’s and blue crab on the bottom near the 41 bridge and surprisingly didn’t get any hits. Fished for sheep and only lost a couple crabs. The water clarity was terrible. Sorry to hear about the phone. I’ve been using a phone bag for the past 2 years and it works great. I’ll attach the link incase you’re interested.
Stick it in a bag of rice for several days. I’ve saved several iPhone and a iPad using rice. Key is if it is powered down do not power on till you know it’s dry, and if it is on immediately power down.
