“What could be epic about Venice In October,” I asked Scoutin 4 Goodies one morning last week. He urged me to GO FOR IT, MAKE IT HAPPEN, etc. just as he’d said when I asked him about the woman who later became my wife.
So it would be epic. It was a guarantee, literally.
I got everything in order, and my great wife encouraged me to go as well. Plans were finalized by Friday, and my cousin and old roommate met up with me in Columbia and we hit I-20 like a high school football team headed to the biggest game of the season.
We had to watch what we ate and drank. Needed peak performance by the time we got to the game 12 hours later. We even stopped to get a pep talk from Coach Two Sons in Lexington. Still, 12 turned into 13 as we poked through Georgia, aka the state that lost to Carolina the weekend before. We got out of GA and eventually got into the cajun country. Showed up at Billy Freeman’s door at about 2:30am and briefly drooled over the dead exotic fish hanging around on the walls of the place we were being allowed to stay. We got up round 6, and went to ice up the boat. About that time, hakunamatata and super mechanic showed up. They had left Beaufort around 9pm! We shoved off and went down out of one of the passes and commenced the shock and awe tour of the Gulf of Mexico. The Freeman 40’s name is Shock Wave.
Made bait at a rig, wondered what depth we were in after 20 miles of running, and discovered we were in over 500ft. Did we even ride in the ocean? You wouldn’t know it on this boat. The thing made 3 footers feel like harbor chop. The boat doesn’t look like a boat you’ve seen before. There’s a sporty cockpit’s worth of room on all four sides of the console. The boat doesn’t feel like a boat you’ve felt before. It feels li
DAMMNN!!! Had a short report on this epic trip from Ross’s dad last night on the Coosaw dock but the pics definitely add the extra thousand words or so!!!
That is pure awesome! Man what a boat. Great video also. I love the white wash those quad 300’s make, I couldn’t imagine having 4 motors pushing me where I wanted to go. Glad y’all had a great trip.
