10/17 Bottom Fishing

Had another beautiful day on the water yesterday. Headed out and back in at over 40 knots. Found some giant b-liners and a bunch of nice triggers, porgies and a few decent bsb’s. Caught 4 reef donkeys, one was probably around 70 lbs or more. Easily bigger than the one we caught last week.
Also caught this lizzard looking fish. Could use some help on the id.
On the way in, we saw a huge pod of spotted and bottle-nose dolphin. A couple guys had never seen them in a large pod like that and decided to join them for a swim.
Excellent day on the water! Thanks to all that came out!!

What about that Grunt? I was always told its a trash fish…throw it back. How do you cook it?

Nice catch.

It is a Sand Tilefish, the smallest of the tiles off our coast.

I’m gonna cover it with olive oil and lemon pepper and sea salt and cook it on the grill tonight. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Nothing wrong with a grunt. They are tasty.
