I fished the incoming tide on the Wando yesterday (10/18) with wind from the N/E. Didn’t expect much but had a good day (good for me at least): a slot red and five trout. Low tide was at 1:45pm, put in at 2:15pm and it took what seemed like an hour to catch shrimp. Mullet were all over but I couldn’t find shrimp. Maybe I was in the wrong spot? I figured shrimp would be all over the place.
I caught the red on a voodoo shrimp under a popping cork in the same place I was throwing live shrimp under a cork…definitely wasn’t expecting that. I caught three trout with live shrimp under a cork, one with a mud minnow on a carolina rig, and one using a top water plug. I got a huge top water bite on the plug but didn’t land the fish. I rarely fish top water but I’m definitely doing that more!
It was a great afternoon out on the water even with the north wind!

you're ruined. wait'll you see how much time you spend throwing that zaraspook cause 1 TW bite is so much better than 10 mud minnow bites.
Haha I can definitely see it happening! Every time I try something new with this fishing hobby (addiction) I seem to be taking off more time from work to do it.

Hey man, you gotta hone your craft and there’s no better way to do that than time on the water. LOL!!
For what it’s worth, I rarely, if ever, hit the water without at least one rod rigged with a topwater bait and sometimes I have two rigged with two different topwater baits.
