10/20 and recent trips

First couple of trips were successful with two full coolers. I am relatively new to shrimping and still trying to figure things out. The biggest thing so far being that you have to go find the shrimp and not wait for them to come to you. Both coolers came from the southeastern end of BB. We tried it again this past weekend and caught some nice trout on tricks along the back side of the bay around oysters before shrimping. We then spent nearly the whole day searching the south end. It seemed like everytime we found them they moved on and we basically chased them most of the day - only ended with the bottom of the cooler covered at most.

Still a beautiful day out there. The trout below and Bart on his first shrimping trip were from 10/20 and the other two were from the last two trips within the last couple of weeks.

Larger numbers of shrimp were caught in 6 to 8 feet of water in a channel surrounded by very shallow mud/sand bottom 3 hours before low tide in dirty water.

Can you post pictures of your boat? Id like to see it all, and with that poling platform

I second that, I’d like to see how your poling platform is built.

He might not know what ya’ll are talking about calling it a “polling platform”. Looks more like a dog perch to me…and a (**() fine one at that.

I’m not slurring my words…I’m simply speaking in cursive.

I’m in Cola and the boats in Chas at the moment - I’ll try and get some posted soon

Congrats on your catch! I like how you roll 'cause looks like you catch 'dem jumbo shrimp and got one cool first mate (the k9).

Plus big trout, rock on.

what a great dog. I’m pretty sure if I took either of mine shrimping, the dummy would try to fetch the net when I cast it. Hard enough to keep them from fetching fishing lures. I think I’m glad I don’t have enough room in my boat to take my dogs shrimping, I’d probably try it. Great pics - congrats on a good day on the water.

I think I’ll go fishin.

I haven’t tracked down any pics of the boat yet, but I thought I’d put up a few of what we did with some of the shrimp. Our little one had fun helping…

Prepping for some 5-cheese and cream gritzzz

And a few buffalo to start

Man that looks good. it is lunchtime here and that made me hungry.

Caught about 50 trout last weekend at the beginning of the falling tide around oyster beds near open water - took some pictures of the boat at the car wash afterwards. Hopefully they answer questions you guys had about the platform etc.

Its an 186 Sea Ark with Merc 50HP. The only other thing I am going to do is have my buddy that built the platform extend the front deck out about 2.5 feet to give me a little more room for casting etc. and some storage space.

That looks pretty cool…and well organized. Isn’t it strange …no matter how big the boat…seems there’s always need for more room! Nice idea for the platform…and loved the pics of the baby! You should put a little steering wheel on your back…like. She is driving you  You should post your recipes for us in the cooking forum!
