Found a bunch of triple tails under board in middle of weed line around 250 ft. Wouldn’t bite ballyhoo. Wouldn’t bite grub. ALMOST got the big one with a net… so close, let soooo far away. Hooked up to a big blue shark during the process which made things exciting.
Added line # 6. Trolled around weed line no action. Added line # 7. No action.
Trolled out to 300 ft, back in to about 260 ft found broken weeds and fish on. Caught a nice cow.
Found the board with the triple tail now at 230 ft. Wind had picked up a bit. Attempted to catch triple tail. The big triple tail always seemed one step ahead of us - we went right he went left. We went down he went up. If only I had a spear gun & snorkle gear - he would have been dinner.
Got snotty end of day. Yet when we got inshore - slick. Crazy…

Had a similar experience once with the triple tail. Found a pallet holding some nice triple tails. Did have one to bite a naked hoo dangling from the rigger while we were throwing everything in the tackle box at the rest of em. No bites. One of the crew foul hooked the pallet and reeled it close to the boat and the T-Tails followed. One got speared but no one got wet!

those triple tail can be caught pretty easy a hint for you is to bring some of those shrimp you been killing next time you go offshore:smiley:
You know… I almost did… Went shrimping in Bulls Bay Friday night & got a cooler of shrimp + 15.5" flounder in the net (must’ve been eating my shrimp - no hard feelings as I gigged him upon release. Made for an absolutely delicious Sunday brunch ).
Next time I will bring some shrimp along. I learn something new everyday.
