Had a great time Saturday cooking out at my buddies dad’s house on his new smoker. I posted a few pics and details of how the smoker was built under the “vertical vs. horizontal(off-set) smoker” post, if interested. I decided to start a new post rather than keep hi-jacking.
For breakfast we had spicy deer sausage on bisuits cooked in the dutch oven using wood coals. The smoker was loaded down pretty good with a pork loin, 2 boston butts, 3 racks of baby backs, 30 + chicken wings, and a pan of baked beans.
Here are some pics:

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Thanks Salty. The food was incredible as always. The deer sausage buscuits were spectacular and the chicken wings were a huge hit.
This smoker hold the heat like no other I’ve ever seen. 1/2 a shovel of coal every 30 min. Had to be careful not to put too many b/c the temp would spike up. Burns very little wood compared to the other smokers I’ve used. A lot less labor intensive.
Doing it again this coming weekend. This time at my dad’s. I will have to post some pics of his setup. Same concept but his is all steel lined with ■■■■■■■■■.
If I ever get my 15 gallon cast iron stew pot cleaned/seasoned and a hanging rack made I plan to have a chicken stew (or 3).
