Fished solo on Friday…headed out of Stono early…weather not as good as expected with the NE wind and 2 to 3’s at 4 seconds…but still managed a little wet 23 knots. Trolled for a couple hours & only managed a couple small Dolphin & a Cuda…decided to try some deep jigging…non stop bite…AJ’s were tough on the back…also a couple nice Triggers on the jig (must have been pretty thick down there) and got 3 decent Brown fish…headed in at 2pm.
Back at it on Sat with a full crew…anticipating another good Scamp bite after trolling for a while. Put lines in around 9am and had our first and best fish in about 10minutes…a 20lb Bull. No more bites so worked towards deeper water…found acres of small slingers…ended up having a blast catching em on the troll, fly rods, & spinning gear…landed about 40 total & released about a dozen.Could have caught those little guys all day. Tried the deep jigging but could not get the jigs to the Scamps…the AJ’s were thick on every number we tried…all bodies worn out we headed home at 3 for a slick calm ride home…best ocean in a while.
