10 year anniversary

Looking for recommendations for a good great restaurant in Downtown Charleston.
I have lived in Mt Pleasant for 22 years but don’t really frequent the downtown restaurants very often.
Money is not an issue for this dinner. I am a steak guy, my wife will probably lean towards seafood.
I know there are several new restaurants down there, so would love to get some opinions.

First, Congratulations…Take her somwhere special, make a longer night out of it other that just a dinner…Take her to The Ocean Room or the Atlantic Room out on Kiawah, great food, hang around the lounge after dinner, walk the beach afterwards. Yeah, it may be a little pricey but how often would you go to eat at Kiawah? And what better way to celebrate 10 years close to home? I am not a spokesman for Kiawah but whats is not to love about out there…

the one hour drive back to MtP after a few bottles of wine.

or you could just stay there

Man, your getting off light. My wife wanted Sandals Antigua for our tenth.

Do it right, spend the night wherever you go. Sure don’t want a DUI to remember your tenth by !! A nice room is much better and cheaper than the alternative.

And congrats on 10 years :sunglasses:

nobody has ever gone wrong with FIG. FIG and a room at the Ansonborough Inn. Park at the inn and walk there and back.

Cypress is pretty darn good
Trattoria Luca is high on my list too

Boat drinks, Waitress I need 2 more boat drinks!

I recommend eating someplace on the market. Maybe Hank’s? Then taking one of the carriage tours of the historic district. The wife and I did that one night and we had a really nice time. That was several years ago but I still remember that as one of our best ‘date nights’.

If you eat downtown, take her for a walking Ghost Tour before or after. Chicks love ghost tours.

Hall’s Chop House - excellent food, nice atmosphere, and outstanding service. Quite pricey. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary recently at Hall’s and were very pleased and will go back. My only gripe about Hall’s is that for the price, I’d expect they enforce a slightly tighter dress code. A lot of customers are dressed quite casually. I don’t wear a tie often, but, on occasions like anniversaries when you might put on a suit and want to spend that kind of money on a meal, I’d prefer a slightly more nicely dressed crowd.

We tried to call for reservations and they were booked. Asked if they took walk-ins and they said yep. So, we showed up around 5:30 on a Friday and they seated us immediately. We figured if the wait was long, there were plenty of other options within walking distance.

You will spend some money at Hall’s.

Bunch of places have great food downtown, i think you’ll be happy with any of the high end staple restaurants. Hall’s, Oak, Grill 223, Charleston Grill, etc. All serve great food so i would base your location on what kind of atmosphere you want. I went with my wife this year, for the first time, to Halls and it was one of the best meals i’ve ever had, the atmosphere was very lively, there were some casually dressed guys and girls eating $50 steaks and drinking champagne, so that could bother some people. If you want something a little more quite, more personal, and more formal for you and the lady i think Charleston Grill is still very nice. It’s been a while since i have been there but it was more of a classic high end experience when i went.

The Oak for Steak. Do the rooftop at Vendue or Market Pavilion beforehand for drinks. They got views. Ladies love views.

Thanks everyone for the input. I think right now I am leaning towards Slightly North of Broad. We have not eaten there yet.

Umm, you gonna eat that?

Slightly North Of Broad is a good choice if thats what you decide. Have not been dissapointed there. For steak, I would go with Oak Steakhouse, Grill 225 second. Have been to Halls Chophouse quite a few times and have come away dissapointed more than once. Plus, its way overpriced compared to other options. Hanks is good for seafood, also might want to try the Ordinary if you go the seafood route.

if ya’ll go to SNOB, get the creme broolay. protip.
