I spent last week at Bellair Beach florida, just south of Clearwater. I was mainly surf fishing and one power boat trip in the bay. Every moring I would see tarpon surfacing about 50 yards off the beach.
One guy in a Hobbie two seater went out each moring and caught one fish. I watched him hook up and get drug about one and a half miles down the beach and at least a quarter mile off shore. Rather impressive. I walked down the beach and watched him finally land it after a 45 minute fight. He was using a large spinning real with 50 pound power pro. He used a 3 inch pin fish and a float.
He was using the cool foot paddel thing and he was cruising with only small adjsutments with the paddel.
I am now quite interested in yak fishing. Is there a place to rent a fishing yak for a weekend? I would like to try it before I start looking to buy one.
By the way I caught several trout, one 17 pound snook, a small grouper and some trash fish. Great trip, I will not go back without a kayak:smiley:

Where are you located…in the Beaufort area Higher Ground has a Hobie revolution that you can use as a demo. I use a Wilderness System Ride and the Hobie. They both have positive aspects, but you can sure cover a lot of ground with the Hobie.
