I had about 10 minutes to mess around Sunday after church at a little clay pond by my parents house and flicked this tiny popper out there and basically just watched about 10 of these lil guys trying to decide what this thing was… Luckily I had my 8 weight with me!
I’ve caught some trout in Georgia about this size but was much more dramatic.
this is my official test to see who has a sense of humor out there…

Some people were lying on a couch surrounded by their own filth. Your pointers on the other hand, smell of fish and it wasnt 'caus she was unclean, so I’d say, well played, especially with an eight weight. I mean there has to be something said for the fact that you didnt tear the fly out of its mouth. I have actually back casted those pinners after the strike thinking it was a much larger fish. Grand times.

It really was a beautiful little bass.
It gets a little too serious around here sometimes so it good to have a laugh every now and then… maybe we should post pics of the smallest fish we’ve caught sometimes instead of the biggest.
When that little guy ate the fly, I barely even picked up on the rod and he went from 6" under the water to about 5’ above it in a flash. He was happy as a clam when I put him in the water and I don’t think he knew exactly what happened to him. I hope to catch him in 2 years when he’s a little bit bigger.

that looks like a travel sized toothpaste tube you painted to look like a bass. i bet that 8 wt wouldve still thrown a loop with that fish on it!!! but hey its still a bass on sunday, i was cuttin the @#$%in grass.
