Went off with a couple guys yesterday to a reef and had a shot at a cobia with the fly. After they turned thier nose up at live crab and other cobia candy I told them I was going to get one on the fly. After the got gave me the “alrighty then” look, two came cruising by soonly after tying up. Strip, strip, strip good by Mr.Clouser. My budd missed a gaff opportunity twice before the fish went all the way under the boat then snap. Now I am fighting him with 4 ft of pool cue. After about 5 to 10 more minutes he saw the cold side of the cooler. I’d say he was between fifteen to twenty pounds respectively. By the end of the day 34 Spades, 2 Spanish, 1 Gag, and the day maker Cobia. I hope to have pics soon provide they send them. Deffinitely a trip of a lifetime with a life long fishing buddy. Very nice… congratulations! I got my first cobe otf back in May. I was hoarse for two days after celebrating the hookup.

Thank you. Yes he ate a hand tied Red and White Clouser with silver tensil. Yeah everyone in the area heard us too. Quite the celebration!!

Big congrats rookie!

I hooked up with a brownie on Wednesday…on my 8 WT!!! Knew it wasn’t the best idea, but could stand watching him swim back and forth around the boat like that. Threw a chartreuse & white needlefish/eel fly and he ate it twice. First time he was so close to the boat, I wouldn’t set the hook. He spit it and swam off, dropped it in front again, and he hit it again. Set the hook and off he went. First blistering run popped the tippet, but it was ■■■■ fun in the meantime. Anyone got a 12 I can borrow next time? :smiley:
